Deposits may be required from customers
for electric, water and/or commercial solid waste. These deposits may be waived
for property owners and for those customers who have established a satisfactory
payment history with Tacoma Public Utilities. Various other waiver options for
customers offer alternatives to paying the deposit for electricity and water
service. A deposit may be requested if a customer has used a waiver option and
fails to keep the
account in good credit standing,
What are the options for residential customers to waive a
deposit? Waiver Options for Residential Customers
- You own the home or property. Mobile
home owners must own the property their home is on.
- Satisfactory credit with Tacoma
Public Utilities for 12 consecutive months in the past 2 years.
- Letter of credit from electric, gas
or water utility for 12 consecutive months in the past 2 years.
- Documentation from a credit bureau
of 12 consecutive months of satisfactory credit history within the past 2
years.
- Signed owner's guarantee from the
property owner.
- Signed co-signer's guarantee from a
current Tacoma Public Utilities customer with 2 years of current satisfactory
credit history.
- Participation in the Fort Lewis
Smart Club program.

You have 30 days from the start of
service.
How can I pay my residential
deposit?
You can pay your deposit by mailing a
check or money order to (allow 7 to 10 days for processing):

You can also call our Service+ line at
253-502-8608 to pay your deposit using your Visa or MasterCard credit or debit
card or pay through the Internet Self Service . Another alternative is to pay in
person at the Tacoma Public Utilities Administration Building at 3628 South 35th
Street or use one of our convenient PayStations located throughout our service
territory.
Will I get my residential deposit
back?
Yes, your deposit will be applied to your utility bill to
you after 12 consecutive months of good payment history and if you maintain
an acceptable credit rating. Otherwise, the deposit will be applied to your
final utility bill if you move out of Tacoma Public Utilities service area. |
