Residential Billing
The number of City services is based on where you live.
If you live inside the city limits of Tacoma, your bill could have
all five services that we provide: electricity, water, solid waste,
wastewater and surface water.
General Information:
- The customer name and
service address are in the upper left corner of the bill.
- The Service From and
Service To columns give the dates of service covered by the bill.
- The number in the Current Read
column is the meter reading on your current bill; the Previous
Read column is the meter reading from your last bill.
- The MULT column is the meter
multiplier.
- The Consumption column is the
number of kilowatt-hours or the number of units of water used for your current
bill.
- The account number, bill date
and date due are in the upper middle section of the bill.
- The amount due is in the
upper right corner of the bill.
- Energy Use reflects the costs
associated with the purchasing or generating electricity.
- Delivery reflects the costs
relating to poles, lines, transformers, etc. associated with delivering
electricity from its source to your home.
- Monthly customer charge
includes costs for all the administrative functions which include but are not
limited to reading your meter, producing you bill and mailing it.
- Solid Waste appears on the
bill with the size of the can you have listed.
- Wastewater and Surface
Water are also listed on the bill.
- Taxes included in your
electric charges.
- The section called Resource Use
lets you track your yearly use of electricity and water.
- The Summary section
summarizes your account information.
- The payment stub is for you
to return with your payment. It shows your account number, date due,
and amount due.
- There is also a section for you to
make a donation to Tacoma Power's Family Need.
Electricity: Your residential rate is stated on your bill. Click

Water: Water is measured in units of 100 cubic feet (ccf).
A unit is about 748 gallons of water. The cost per unit of
water is determined by the time of year, amount of use and where you live. Click
