Handmade Envelope

An easy envelope to hold your personal greetings.

Rating: EASY
Adult Supervision Required? YES

What you need

  • Magazines with fun pictures or calendar pages (for a larger envelope)
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Stickers (optional)

How to make it

  1. Find a fun picture that you like in the magazine or calendar. Tear the whole page out. (Picture 1)

  2. Cut a few inches off the top or bottom to make a perfectly square page. (The example to the right is 8x8 inches.) The calendar page may already be in a square. You may need an adult to help you.

  3. Place the picture that you like face down on a table. Turn the paper so that a corner is facing you (like the shape of a diamond). (Picture 2)

  4. Fold the bottom corner up to just under the middle of the page. (Picture 3)

  5. Fold the side flaps in so that the tips touch each other right in the middle. (Picture 4)

  6. Use glue or tape to hold in place. Be careful not to get glue on the inside of your envelope!

  7. Put your letter inside, fold top flap down and seal with tape or a sticker. Flip over to other side. You are ready to mail your letter! Check out our fool-proof tips for mailing down below. (Picture 5)
