Plant ID labels

Take-out food and leftovers from restaurants often come in Styrofoam clamshell containers accompanied by plastic utensils. Neither the Styrofoam container nor the utensils are recyclable and they will never biodegrade. So what can you do? Reuse them by turning them into a cool plant label for your garden or favorite potted plant.

Rating: EASY
Adult Supervision Required? YES

What you need:

  • Styrofoam container (clean)

  • Plastic fork

  • Scissors or utility knife

  • Permanent marker

How to make it:

  1. Cut out the bottom of the Styrofoam container and cut into small pieces of any shape or size you desire
  2. With permanent markers, decorate your label; leave enough room in the middle to write the name or type of plant
  3. Insert label between the prongs of a plastic fork to secure
  4. Place in garden or potted plant and enjoy
