The following are background documents related to the Request for Qualifications and Proposals (RFQ/P) process that the City of Tacoma began on Oct. 11, 2005, to find a suitable vendor to manage the City's performing arts facilities - the Pantages Theater, the Rialto Theater, Theatre on the Square and the Jones Building. Each of these documents is a PDF file.

The following organizations submitted proposals by the Jan. 10 deadline for the City of Tacoma RFP/Q for management of the performing arts facilities:

  • Village Theatre, Issaquah, WA
  • Tacoma School of the Arts Partners, Tacoma, WA
  • Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, Tacoma, WA

Questions and answers - (Updated Dec. 16, 2005)

  1. Question: Can the city provide the winning operator with a ticket sales history for the past seven years divided show by show and with demographics of the audience?
    Answer: This information is held by the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA).  A request for sales, ticket and demographic history from the BCPA could be made.  The City does not keep records of this information.
     
  2. Question: Can the city provide and guarantee use of a listing of current contributors and sponsors?
    Answer: Again, this information is held by the BCPA.  The City does not have listings of their contributors or sponsors and therefore we could not guarantee access and/or use of this information.
     
  3. Question: Do you know if the BCPA as entered into programming commitments for July 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007, or are they planning to between now and January 10th?
    Answer: The BCPA is working on the 2006/2007 schedule.  The Pantages will be closed for the lobby remodel this summer from June to early October.  Any contract information beyond May of 2006 would come from the BCPA.
     
  4. Question: What are the current commitments of the BCPA? 
    Answer: The BCPA has contracts for the remainder of the 2005/2006 season which runs to May, 2006.  They also have a separate agreement with the City for the design and construction of the lobby remodel of the Pantages scheduled for next summer. The BCPA is also working with the resident arts groups for their 2006/2007 season.
